Melissa “P.K.” Bullock reigns from the heart of the Windy City as a testament to multiple talents. Proviso West High School graduate and mother of two, she has unveiled her aptitude as a musician as a lyricist, songstress and trained percussionist.
In her father’s church is where Melissa’s journey for music began with expansion overtime through education, stage plays and choirs. At the age of 14, she began to rap, originating as “Preacher’s Kid.” P.K. sung in her high school gospel choir P.A.W.S (Proviso Area Worship Singers) and Show Choir (290 West). Outside of educational and religious institutes, she has had the pleasure of singing with Bryant Jones & Chosen.
She was signed to a local Chicago based recording label, DEESO Records. With DEESO, seven mixtapes were created and released – the Str8 Jackin’ compilation – and one album, Album Hostile Takeover. After her time with DEESO Records, she affiliated herself with So Chi Entertainment, then later to Trunk Music USA Music Group as a Featuring Artist, and now with Cherry Entertainment Consulting Group as a Recording Artist. In addition to music, Melissa is also involved theatrical entertainment.
Her most recent project, the #BigGurlSwag mixtape, was released to the public online in late November through Datpiff, Reverbnation and Soundcloud. The project is a promotional strategy to feed her fans of new music and promo visuals to follow of singles and features from a later released EP, EarKandy: The Prelude. Since signing with CEcG she has performed at The Rap Factory in Chicago, maintained statewide radio play and has averaged well over 20,000 music video views. Plans are advancing for P.K. to headline a concert and perform nationwide as a marketing strategy for her Album. She has hopes of performing internationally for a well-deserved and desired melting pot of fans.
